When eyebrow waxing goes wrong

So today I went to get my eyebrows waxed. See, much like pedicures and manicures, it’s a MUST to keep up w/ your “brows”. You can get away with not keeping up with your pedicures by not wearing sandals. You can get away with not getting manicures by clipping your own nails and painting them yourself. Unfortunately, you can’t get away with big eyebrows. There is no way to hide them.
I personally cannot stand having bushy eyebrows. Quite honestly,they drive me insane. With that being said, i’m spoiled and need them waxed as soon as they begin to get bushy. Everytime I go to the nail salon that I normally go to, I always have this fear that i’ll get the “newbie” and they’ll destroy my eyebrows. Well, i’ve been lucky …most of the time. Occasionally i’ll get the uneven eyebrows or the “transsexual wh0re” looking eyebrows. For the most part, I get pretty decent eyebrow waxing jobs whenever I get a certain person to do them. The lady that normally does mine wasn’t there today so I was stuck with this one lady that I have never seen before. I could tell that she couldn’t speak english very well, so I sort of kept making sure to say “leave this part thick” (while pointing at the thicker part), “a little thinner here with a point at the end” (while pointing at the other end of the eyebrow) and then specifically said “do not make too thin, leave it slighly thick and arched“. She kept saying “Thin then?” and i’d then repeat myself again. She knodded and I could’ve sworn that she said “oh ok, I get it” with a nice smile.
I knew, deep in my gut, that I was going to leave that place with one missing eyebrow or simply – some fugly looking ones. I sat back in the chair,took a deep breath and she did her thing. When she was done with the first one, I asked if it was thin. She said “um, no. No thin.” I guess I made her paranoid b/c she then moved me to the room w/ the bed that’s not really a bed, but looks like a bed, so she could do the other one. When she finished, I looked at them and sure enough, they weren’t what I asked for. I kindly said that I loved them and gave her the money (it’s not like she could reverse it). I then left with my big shades on. I was kind of mad b/c I tried really hard explaining what kind of eyebrows that I wanted.
Below I have provided a visual of what I believe would save many other women from getting such horrible eyebrow waxing jobs. I call it the “Universal eyebrow waxing chart”. Now, instead of spending large amounts of time explaining what kind of eyebrow shape that you want to someone, that really doesn’t know what you’re saying, you can just simply point at the image or say the name.
Please excuse the drawing, i’m no artist. I’m also aware that I write like a 12 year old boy. It’s the message that counts… 
I normally get either the “dolphin” or the “sexy rainbow”. Unfortunately, today I was given the “boring clone”… It’s not even either. The left brow is longer and isn’t pointy. The Right brow has a point, but seems shorter. Actually, I should probably get my money back.
You poor thing, I gave up on the asian nail salons and started going to spas. Haven’t had a bad brow job since!

i am male and i got my eyebrows done once by an asian nail place. they do great nails but their eyebrows sucked. i’ ve never got it done again. i first thought i wont just go there again but i never got it done again cuz i am a guy, i dont need it and it was painful and it was worse than my normal brows. so i just didnt get it done ever again, but i am going to. i will ask around and see where most women go to and go there!

Hmm i can relate to your anger and dissapointment and coming away with un even eye brows… i just had mine done by the person who usually does them and when i was there i thought they looked fine but on later inspection they are completely different shapes … i have one dolphin and one sexy rainbow … it will take forever for them to even out and its not like i can even hide what they look like.
I can DEFINITELY relate. Asian salons do superb nail jobs, its just the eyebrows that kill me. My eyebrows were slightly uneven to begin with after a few bad experiences and I went in just 2 weeks ago and the lady completely destroyed my eyebrows. I mean seriously, i’ve never had worse eyebrows. My eyebrows are half jolly rainbow on the left and dolphin on the left.
…lesson learned, I should either go somewhere english-speaking or a spa.
OMG, I just had the most horrific experience with a girl threading my brows!!! She spoke fine english but totally did not listen to what i wanted, i even had a picture of what i want and what i don’t want. She destroyed the shape and now I have no arch and a expressionless face
After crying for 2 hours I guess I will have to live with it for a few weeks but I suggest getting a consult with a REAL professional at a spa and letting them let you watch as they do it a little at a time. I have spent 4 weeks letting mine grow because fuller brows are in and just make you look younger and this new girl ruined me, I look like a freak. I know it is my fault for letting someone new taslk me into doing them but I felt that I was very clear on keeping them thick!!!She really waxed away the thickness underneath at the front of my brow so they look the same thickness all the way across. Do not let people thread or wax ther or too much on top, there is were you get the shape. I guess I.m F***** for this holiday season because I don’t even want to leave my house. Send me fast growing wishes please and good luck to us all when we enter the salons!!!!
I’ve been going to this one salon for SEVEN YEARS and they never screwed up my eyebrows even with different people and the price was only 5 bucks. Till this one day, I guess I got someone new and she went to town w/ my eyebrows! my right was the “boring clone” and my left was the “grouchy walrus”!! not only that but she took too much from the ends so then it was too short. I didn’t complain because I just glanced in the mirror thinking its fine since i’ve been going there forever. Oh, but my friends did notice. To avoid more criticism, I got long angled bangs to hide at least one of the eyebrows. After that horrible experience, every time I go to different salons to get my eyebrows done I’m always skeptacle and trust no one.
Wow, am I glad I ran into this site. I thought I was the only one in this nightmare. I too, just had my brows waxed stating that I only wanted them shaped abit. Well, needless to say I now have sharpies and with my round face, it is a sight! I look like I am frozen with an OMG look. So it takes 4 weeks to get back to normal? Arghhhhhh…’preciate the shares, now I know I ain’t the only one.

maybe next time, you all should skip the cheap Asian place then, and spend the few extra bucks to get what you really want, as you decided to go through with the eyebrow wax even though you knew they couldn’t speak English well. and look what happens! next time, if they can’t understand you, GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
my eyebrows were full eyebrows so i needed them trimmed properly so i went to this eastern european place and this woman with horrid brows done it by the way am brittish and live in britian n she was british. and my eyebrows looked so horrible shed completely destroyed it !!! it was so thin and disgusting. after tht it kind of grew back but it didn’t look very nice so i went to a another spa where this lady done my brows and she copletely ruined it agian the front bit of my eyebrows is not thick anymore my middle bit of my eyebrows are thicker am soo gutted and the front of my eyebrows are growing bacck but are so small like 1 millimetres and its been a year!! so am soo scared am gonna spend the rest of my teenage years living with terrible brows!!!
